Rockstar Games has confirmed that the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 5 Online mode will support just 16 players, not 32, as was rumored earlier today by a new leak.

Grand Theft Auto 5 made its debut last week and impressed millions of gamers with its single-player campaign that focused on three characters.

Rockstar is now getting ready to deploy GTA Online, the multiplayer mode of the upcoming title, which will deliver a complex experience for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

A rumor that surfaced earlier today, however, claimed that the online title would support 32 players, instead of the 16 that were confirmed by Rockstar a few months ago.

Now, the studio revealed on Twitter that GTA Online would only support 16 players, not 32.

No other reasoning was given but Rockstar is expected to share more details as we get closer to the October 1 launch of GTA Online.
