A brand new report that's appeared online says that Grand Theft Auto 5 will be getting the remastered treatment for a release on the PS4 and Xbox One platforms, at least according to an insider.

Grand Theft Auto 5 appeared on the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms last September and delivered a great open world experience that quickly sold tens of millions of copies worldwide.

Since then, developer Rockstar Games has supported the title with different updates and multiplayer events, but it's stayed quiet about a possible PC edition or adaptations for the new PS4 and Xbox One consoles, which came out in November of last year.

Now, ahead of E3 2014 next month, industry insider Thuway has seemingly confirmed that GTA 5 will be launched onto the PS4 and Xbox One this fall.

While talking about different high-definition remakes that are coming to the new consoles, like The Last of Us Remastered on PS4 or the inevitable Halo 2 Anniversary for Xbox One, the insider has claimed that only GTA V will manage to sell over 4 million copies on the new platforms.

It's unclear at what point during E3 2014 the announcement will be made, as it could happen at Microsoft or Sony's press conferences, seeing as how Rockstar or 2K Games aren't going to hold their separate events.
