Grand Theft Auto 3 is one of those games that makes it to the top not only thanks to its predecessors, but also a pretty nice bunch of innovations and great gameplay. It can easily be called the game with the most "mature" content to ever be displayed in a gaming title. There's so much violence and perversion in this game that any new action movie would be jealous. When you produce a game that has laws created especially against it and a protest of prostitutes (now that's a pun) is organized to pull if off the market, all the controversy gets you millions of fans. It still remains the best GTA in the series, although several new titles have surfaced in the past years, not bringing as much new content as GTA 3 did in its days.

Cause a Riot

To cause a riot of the non-Zoot Suit variety, enter the following code during gameplay: DOWN, UP, LEFT, UP, X, R1, R2, L2, L1.

People fight each other - During gameplay press Down, Up, Left, Up, X, R1, R2, L2, L1.

All people hate you - During gameplay press Down, Up, Left, Up, X, R1, R2, L1, L2.

Pedestrian Insanity

To drive the pedestrians straight out their heads, enter the following codes during gameplay: R2, R1, TRIANGLE, X, L2,
L1, UP, DOWN.

Pedestrians Fight! - To cause the pedestrians to brawl, enter the following code during gameplay: RIGHT, R2, CIRCLE, R1, L2, DOWN, L1, R1.

Blow off Limbs! - Square L1 Circle Down L1 R1 Triangle Right L1 X (This does not say Cheat Activated but it does work!)

Pedestrians have guns!! - R2 R1 Triangle X L2 L1 Up Down

Hints
Free Repairs

If you have a nice car that is really beat up, just put it back into your garage. When you reopen the garage door, the car will be in perfect condition.

The Hooker Cheat
This works with hookers to get your health up. Drive up to a hooker the passenger side of the car and park next to her. She will bend over and talk to you. Stay there for a while and she will get in. Then take her to an alley or a hidden place. The car will begin to shake (wonder why) and your health will go up. You will lose 1 dollar per health point. After a while, she'll get out, repeat the process until you have full health. This only works when cops aren't chasing you and it doesn't work when driving cop cars, semi-trucks, buses, taxis or fire trucks. So just use a normal car.

Hooker Cheat Part 2
For some real fun after she gets out, get out too and kick her ass until she's dead. She drops all her money that she took from you. Free money, fun and most of all free health when you do this!

Get to Staunton Island Early
First activate the better driving code, the one where you can jump, then get a fast car and get to the broken bridge. In the corner where you can't go in, there is an opening and just drive through. First get a fast Car and only then build up speed and go all the way to then end where the bridge is broken and press L3 to jump and you should land on the other side.

Advance to Staunton Island
To advance from Portland to Staunton Island prematurely, go to the subway. The subway should be closed off at the bottom of the stairs. Take a car down the stairs and either crash it or park it so the door is right next to the subway door. When you open the door to get out, you will step out and through the closed off gate. Then go down to subway and get on the train. It will take you to Staunton Island. It is tricky to get your car to land near the gate but it is possible.

Easy Cash
To get more cash, just hit other cars with your car or mess up your car so bad that it explodes, then you get extra cash.
Faster Taxis. To have faster taxis, you must have 100 fares in cab game-mode. The taxis are at Borgnine in Harwood/Portland.

Police Bribe
To get the police bribe, you must have 45 kills in the vigilante game mode. The bribe is in your hideout.

Hint
If your car is damaged or nearly blown up, take it to YOUR garage and put it in, then set it on fire with the flamethrower, save the game, come back and your car will be in perfect condition. I did this on PC and it can also be done on the PS2.

To get to the third island early
Park a tank to the side of the subway tunnel in Portland and get a bobcat. Drive the bobcat down the tunnel and clip the side for the tank, you should roll onto the roof of your bobcat and slide under the railings! Have fun!

Free repairs on ANY vehicle:
To repair any vehicle for free, park them in the garage at any hideout and walk out until the door closes, then go back in. The car should be as good as new and ready to go.

Glitches:
I have found two glitches on the second island. They allow you to go through the wall in certain buildings and fall through nothingness and end up somewhere else.

1. The first one is in the hospital parking lot. Enter perfect handling cheat (R1, L1, R2, L1, Left, R1, R1, Triangle), then jump onto the hospital roof across from the stairs. After that, you need to jump onto the second roof. Go to the right and drive straight off the roof into the building, you should go through the wall, keep going until you start falling. (If you haven't gotten to the third island yet, this will take you to the other side of the barrier and you can go to the third island.) If you go through it on foot, you will not land in the tunnel but somewhere else and won't be able to get to the third island so take a car.

2. The second glitch is at the police station. Get a police car so you can go through the gate and get to the back of the station. When you are back there, go to either side of the building and there will be ledges so you can walk along the side of the building. Go to the ledge on the left side of the stairs and walk along making sure you are pressing up against the building and you should walk through the wall. When you are through, you can walk around a bit and if you go to the far corner in the rear (where you break the guy out) you will fall and land in front of the police station, it's nothing spectacular and it won't get you to the third island but it's cool to do.

*Since the first one is different when you do it with a car, the second one might be too. But even with the perfect handling cheat in (so you can jump,) it's nearly impossible to get the right angle to get the car in there.

All weapons:
During gameplay, press R2, R2, L1, R2 left down right up left down right up. You should have a pistol, rocket launcher, grenade, petrol bomb, AK47, sniper and much more.

Hint
Repeat to get more ammo Tank

While playing press O, O, O, O, O, O, R1, L2, L1, triangle, O, triangle and a tank should fall down from the sky a few meters away from you. Press O to fire and use the left analog to turn the turret [cannon].

Hint:
In Grand Theft Auto 3, go to the Yakuza base (Staunton Island) and murder 50 Red Jacks and 10 Yardies, go to your hideout and stand for 10 minutes. You will get a semi auto pistol.

Cheat:
This cheat is to get you to the other islands without having to do the missions. First you need a car, then you need to drive to the subway station in the red light district. You should see a ramp over the subway. Jump over the ramp so that you fall inside and if done correctly, the car should flip over and slide between the gates. Then leave the car and get on the subway and you will be able to go to any island. Go to a saving point and save. The tunnels work connecting the second island and the one with the airport.

If you die or get wasted, then you will be sent back to Portland if you don't save.
