As reported by the gaming site The Magic Box,
Gran Turismo creator, Kazunori Yamauchi mentioned, in an interview with Best Car Magazine that the PSP version of Gran Turismo 5 will surface before the PS3 one. We don't know the official
launch date, but everyone expects it to be somewhere between March 2008 and Christmas time next year.
Anxious gamers should chill and assume the worst, that being a 2009 release of the long awaited GT5. Why should the PSP version be out first? Well, mostly because the portable console is now more famous than ever, while the PS3's experiencing some problems. Also, a PSP Gran Turismo 5 launch that's close to the official launch of the PSP Slim would surely boost the title's sales. I hope that this doesn't become a trend since I'd hate to see
Final Fantasy XIII and Metal Gear Solid 4 gone portable and their next-gen versions postponed.
I'm not implying that the PSP versions of these games (including GT5) are not pure quality, but these are long-running series we're talking about and fanatic gamers will want to continue their experience, in front of the TV screens. It's obvious that all consoles are heading towards a portable future, decreasing hardware size and display size , but let us linger in the world of the massive PS3 and the giant
Xbox 360, with their next-gen graphics and gameplay.
It all comes down to the gamers' preferences... Would you rather play Gran Turismo 5 with a PS3 controller (or maybe a PS3 steering wheel) or make your fingers numb by adjusting to the PSP controls? Time and the adjustments done to the Playstation 3 will give us the final answer, but till then we'll be happy to play GT5: Prologue this Christmas, if it doesn't get postponed too.
