Sony has just shed a bit more light on one of its most anticipated games of the year, Gran Turismo 5, as Peter Dille, the senior vice president of Sony Computer Entertainment America, confirmed that the game will be launched before Christmas.

[admark=1]Gran Turismo 5 is eagerly awaited by a huge amount of racing game fans, as the title has been in development for quite some time at Polyphony Digital, under the guidance of designer Kazunori Yamauchi.

The game was delayed recently, as the executive revealed that he and his team weren't able to make the retail release date of November 2, fact which made Sony pretty sad.

Now, things are looking up, as Yamauchi revealed last week that Gran Turismo 5 has gone gold, and that the retail discs are being printed up as we speak.

Sony's Dille also chimed in on this whole GT5 debate, saying that the racing simulator is still on track for a winter holiday release date, right before Christmas.

"Yeah [it's on track], Kazunori came out with a comment that they are working on a few last things. He apologized to the community, but explained it is coming before Christmas. We haven't put a date to that yet, but we will just as soon as we get word from him when he's done," he reassured fans.

According to a recent leak at Sony's official retail site, Sony Style, the game has a November 30 release date attached to it, but it may just be a placeholder until the company sets a concrete one to the much anticipated racing game.

Gran Turismo 5 is set to really take the driving simulator genre to a whole new level, as it will boast close to 1,000 cars, over 70 different tracks and lots of different competitions, from rallies to Nascar, kart racing or regular competitive championships.

The game was set to appear this month, but last minute complications, plus Polyphony's desire to polish it up even more, has pushed it back to the winter holiday season.
