Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Ships Without Online Support

- But Christmas will be a better day, anyway

By: Calin Ciabai, Games Editor

There are some news about Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, but the most important would be the one regarding online play: the game will only ship with offline racing! But don't get mad, it's probably just a measure against piracy (because it's hard to find other explanations). Actually, the online mode will be available, too, as a free download, exactly on Christmas day.

The feature that will be available to download as a "gift" on Christmas day are online-only events as multiplayer events with up to 16 drivers, time trial races and ranking boards, as well as the possibility to download ghosts from the online Time Trial Ranking Boards. So... everything is OK and just as everybody wanted it do be, but it just
has to be downloaded.

Now, regarding the other pieces of information that are to be found on Gran Turismo 5 Prologue's official site, things are pretty clear: it will feature a total of 37 cars and 5 tracks (with "Forward" and "Reverse" modes) and the classic game modes: arcade racing, time trials and a series of 24 events over 3 categories, allowing you to win some cash and cars.

For those of you who can hardly wait to search it and find everything out, you should know that there'll be exactly seven Nissan car models available, three BMW-s and 2 car types from Alfa Romeo, Audi, Daihatsu, Ferrari, Lotus, Mitsubishi and Suzuki. As for the rest of the cars, you can take a look at Gran Turismo's official site. And wait for Christmas, of course.

For those of you who don't know it already, GT5 is a Playstation 3 exclusive, and the games in the series have more than 47 million units shipped worldwide. The main characteristic of the game is that it has raced far beyond a driving simulator experience, becoming a global lifestyle. Check out the screenshots and you'll understand what we're talking about.
