The PlayStation Vita handheld from Sony might benefit from the announcement of a Gran Turismo 5 spin-off, but it seems that the main developer behind the racing franchise has not made a decision about a potential mobile title.

Kazunori Yamauchi, who is the leader of the Polyphony Digital development studio, has stated during an event in China that, “If we were to make it, we’d like to make use of the ability to play anywhere and the ability to use 3G at any time.”

He also talked about introducing more customization options for Gran Turismo 5 cars and added, “If we can find a good balance, we’d like to increase the areas where users can make modifications.”

Gran Turismo 5 was launched in November 2010 and, since then, the game has received regular updates and new content packs in order to keep loyal fans interested as the team works on the yet unannounced Gran Turismo 6.
