Late last week, Madonna debuted her first video in a while on Snapchat, for the single “Living for Love,” the leading single of the album “Rebel Heart,” scheduled for release later this year. If you missed it on the app, don’t worry: she recreated it on stage at the Grammys 2015 last night.

Madonna and a very large troupe of backup dancers dressed up as bulls took over the stage for the music premiere: there was dancing, there was bullfighting and there was even some bull riding, and a very powerful message at the end about how “love can lift you up.” Literally, in Madonna’s case.

The performance was well thought out, as is the case with every showing from the Queen of Pop. She didn’t make it so far by being lazy about her live performances, that much is sure.

Nonetheless, voices online note, there was some awkwardness in Madonna’s stage presence, as if she was uncomfortable: the bodice of her Givenchy outfit seemed too tight, her face seemed to tight, the moves felt a bit forced.

Even so, “Living for Love” got a very strong premiere and clearly more people loved it than hated it. At the end of the day, even if she wasn’t feeling like her old self, Madonna proved that she could still deliver a solid, memorable performance.

What did you think? If you missed it, you can see it in the video below.
