On Sunday’s Grammys 2015, held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Eminem scooped up 2 awards: Best Rap Sung Collaboration for “The Monster” with Rihanna, and Best Rap Album for “The Marshall Mathers LP2,” his most recent studio release, largely regarded as the follow-up to his successful “Marshall Mathers LP.”

Eminem wasn’t at the gala to pick up the award, and according to Forbes magazine, the broadcast didn’t even include these categories because they’re not considered “major.” Pop categories are that, so all airtime went to them.

Even so, that doesn’t mean that his win is a small feat: this is Eminem’s sixth Best Rap Album trophy, the most a rapper has ever received from The Recording Academy. It looks like Eminem wasn’t exaggerating when he crowned himself a “Rap God” in one of the tracks from the winning album.

Speaking of which, “Rap God” holds the record in the Guinness Book of World Records for the song with the biggest number of words spoken.

Eminem is clearly winning even when he’s busy being someplace else than at an event considered more of a promotional event these days than an actual awards gala.

The aforementioned publication notes that another good thing that came with Em’s win was not having Iggy Azalea become the first female rapper to take home the Best Album distinction - not because she’s white (since Em is white too), but because she’s Australian and her music is a shameless appropriation of African-American hip-hop culture.

If you ask Iggy, that’s not true. She’s not appropriating, she’s expressing herself artistically in the genre she most relates to.
