Grammys producer apologizes to Trent Reznor for cutting his performance short at the 2014 edition of the awards

Trent Reznor, Dave Grohl, Josh Homme, and Lindsey Buckingham were booked to perform live at the 2014 Grammy Awards but, midway through their number, CBS cut them off with the credits because the broadcast had already gone 15 minutes over the allotted time.

Reznor took to Twitter to vent his frustration, saying he had only two words for the Academy and one of them started with “F,” while the other was “off,” for the way they handled their scheduling issues. You get the idea.

Executive producer Ken Ehrlich tells THR that, while he’s sorry for the mishap, it’s not like he hadn’t warned Reznor it might happen. Still, at the very least, he’s apologizing.

“I'm sorry he was upset. I was really thrilled we were finally getting him on the Grammys. I did tell them we’d take it as long as we could. The number was about five, six minutes long, and we got to within a minute twenty of the end. We got as close as we could possibly get,” Ehrlich says.

“There are many ups and downs during the course of the show. It’s a bad word these days, but it’s variety, the one thing left that live event television can do that you don’t get elsewhere,” he continues.
