Love is love no matter what, this was the message delivered so beautifully in the closing performance at the 2014 Grammy Awards by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis with Mary Lambert, Madonna, and Queen Latifah.

You can see it in full below.

First to the stage were Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, with their collaborator Mary Lambert, for a gorgeous rendition of “Same Love.” As the song drew to an end, Queen Latifah stepped forward to announce that no less than 33 couples had chosen this special moment to start their new life together.

As the camera zoomed in on them, viewers at home saw that they weren’t just traditional couples, of man and woman, but also same-gender couples, which fit in perfectly with the message of the song.

As Queen Latifah pronounced them married and tears started to flow, a tuxedo-clad Madonna walked up to perform her old hit “Open Your Heart,” which also speaks of unconditional love and acceptance.

Overall, it was a gorgeous and very emotional moment and, even if Madonna didn’t perform a new song, she still delivered on her promise of a few days ago about getting ready for a truly surprising performance.
