Last night's Grammy Awards were marred by tragedy, as diva Whitney Houston passed away just hours before. Jennifer Hudson paid her a very touching and beautiful tribute during the awards gala.

Hudson, a longtime vocal fan of Whitney's, took to the stage during the Grammys and performed one of her most iconic and popular tracks, “I Will Always Love You.”

Given the sad occasion, the powerful ballad was “re-worked” a bit, with Hudson actually singing to the late Whitney.

“Whitney, we will always love you,” Jennifer sang, visibly overwhelmed and saddened, yet, despite it, not missing a beat of the incredibly touching song.

Whitney Houston was found dead in her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel this weekend. An investigation is ongoing.

She was only 48 years old and one of the greatest voices of our times.
