Alicia Keys and country legend Bonnie Raitt weren't just the first presenters of the evening at the Grammys 2012, they were also the couple that reminded the industry of one of the most tragic losses it had suffered in 2011.

Alicia and Bonnie paid a very touching tribute to the iconic singer Etta James, who died just a short while ago.

“As we were reminded just yesterday, when a truly great artist leaves us, their legacy lives on,” Alicia said.

She was referring both to Etta and to Whitney Houston, who had died just hours before the awards show.

Afterwards, she and Boonie sang “Sunday Kind of Love,” ending their segment by reaffirming their love for the fallen stars.

“We love you, Etta! We love you, Whitney! We’ll never forget you,” they said in unison.
