Grammys 2011: Eminem, Dr. Dre Put on Epic Performance

On Sunday at the Grammy Awards 2011, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Rihanna, Skylar Grey and Adam Levine of Maroon 5 joined forces for one of the best performances of the night – if not actually the best, judging by the reaction audiences had to it.

Fans knew since the weekend that Dre would be putting on his first televised performance in a decade at the Grammys, but perhaps few expected it to be as incendiary as it was.

The number kicked off with Rihanna singing her own version of “Love the Way You Lie.” Behind her at the piano was Adam Levine of Maroon 5, accompanying her on the harrowing tune of abuse and lost love.

As the beat picked up and flames burst on the screens behind the two, Em burst on the stage – and the cheering from the crowd was so loud, as the video below can attest, that it nearly drowned him out.

Rihanna made her way to the stage for the rest of “Love the Way You Lie,” arguably the most played on air song of the summer – and then retreated as Em took on Dre’s new song, “I Need a Doctor,” with Skylar Grey.

Towards the end of the song, the man himself, Dre, also makes an appearance, thus rounding up the most spectacular and talked about performance of the evening.

There’s no denying that Dre and Em made rap history at the Grammys 2011, fans were saying on Twitter just minutes after the performance, MTV News reports.

“Eminem, Dr Dre and Skylar Grey completely killed it. Awesome performance!,” twitterer Maceface357 wrote, while countless others couldn’t stop raging about how passionate Eminem’s performance had been.

“Love the Dre + Eminem combo. Can't believe Em hasn't popped one of those veins in his head yet. Fierce! I dig this Skylar Gray chick,” user Jeanacosta wrote.

“Hands down.. Eminem, Rihannas, Skylar Grey & Dr Dre best performance so far.. friggin LOVED it! Eminem = passionate performance! AWESOME!” Munekitta agrees.
