Singer goes brunette, fails to impress with sheer number

There was once a time when the mere thought of Britney Spears in anything even remotely see-through would have sent celebrities bloggers and fans in a frenzy. Those days are long gone, which would explain how come her daring outfit at this year’s Grammy Awards ended up mostly on fashion faux pas lists, as BellaSugar can confirm.

Britney arrived on the red carpet hand in hand with manager and rumored boyfriend Jason Trawick and the moment she made the first step, tongues stared wagging. It wasn’t without reason, though, as she was wearing a sheer, long-sleeve black dress (the term more or less applies here and is used mostly for illustrative purposes) and a bodysuit by Dolce & Gabbana.

She matched the whole ensemble with black fishnet stockings and spiked black heels. The outfit, some say, would have worked wonders if she had left the stockings at home. Even better, most media outlets agree, Britney would have put on a much better appearance on the red carpet if she’d gone for something slick without being so blatantly obvious, which made it very clear she was trying too hard.

According to the aforementioned e-zine, Britney got everything else but the sheer black gown right, pointing out how she chose to go light on the makeup since she had just had her hair colored a darker shade. “Britney’s back to being a brunette with a penchant for see-through black dresses. She kept her makeup very sweet, with gold-pink blush and a lightly shadowed eye,” BellaSugar says.

The dress, though, was all sorts of wrong. Whereas other stars also kept it short and simple on the red carpet, showing off plenty of leg or, on the contrary, a vey generous décolletage, Britney’s black dress left little to the imagination and was far from flattering on her, while also making her seem as if screaming for attention.
