Not too long ago, mobile Internet pioneer ACCESS Co. LTD. has announced the availability of a new software solution for the owners of a device running under Google's Android operating system, namely Graffiti. According to the company, this software has been one of the most popular applications ever released for Palm's handsets, and still is one of the most appealing handwriting recognition applications available.

According to the company, the new Graffiti for Android v1.02 has been optimized to fit the capabilities of any mobile phone powered by Google's mobile operating system. The Graffiti application is available as a free download from the Android Market. It is capable of offering Android handset owners the possibility to enjoy a new input method that takes advantage of the touchscreen displays on their devices.

“Originally developed for the popular Palm handheld devices, Graffiti was well ahead of its time, merging real world shorthand writing with modern computing to simplify data entry for mobile devices. With Graffiti for Android, users can input letters, numbers and characters quickly and easily by sliding their fingers on the touch screen. The Graffiti for Android application also features built-in screens to guide users in learning the Graffiti strokes,” the company states.

The main purpose of the new application was to bring the original Graffiti 1 character recognition system to Android-based devices. One of its nicest features seems to be the fact that users would be able to benefit from its capabilities throughout the system. In addition to the original Graffiti strokes, the software solution also comes with two-part silkscreen, as well as with Graffiti Help reference screen.

“The wait is finally over. Graffiti, still the most popular handwriting recognition software ever developed for mobile devices, is now available as a free application specifically optimized for Android. If you loved the speed and efficiency of using Graffiti on your Palm device, now you can renew that love on your Android device. If you're new to Graffiti this is your chance to experience first-hand what has long been the world's most popular handwriting recognition software,” the company notes on its website here.
