Grab Your DS and Imagine You Are a Rock Star

- Girl gamers, get ready to become a rock star

By: Calin Ciabai, Games Editor

If you have ever dreamed of becoming a rock star and the games already available don't manage to rise up to your standards, we've got some good news for you: Ubisoft has decided
to give it a try and brings you a new way of virtually pursuing your dream and they called it Imagine Rock Star. However, there might be a little problem, especially if you are a male in the mid thirties: this newly announced DS title, as its name suggests, is part of the Imagine series developed for girls aged 6 to 14. However, there are some strange titles on the market aimed at the same age category, so it might not be a wrong idea to give it a try whatsoever.

Imagine Rock Star allows players to simulate a musical career, selecting who plays the different instruments in their virtual bands and each instrument is controlled differently using the DS stylus. Also, each musician is customizable with various styles, and gameplay revolves around performing in concerts, earning money and climbing the charts. Also, wireless multiplayer will be available when the game is launched.

Tony Key, SVP of marketing and sales at Ubisoft said: "Ubisoft has established itself as the leading publisher for girls and we are extremely pleased with the success of the first series of Imagine games. By allowing them to play, create and dream of the possibilities, Imagine Rock Star strengthens Ubisoft’s position in this category and provides more DS options for young girl gamers."

Imagine Rock Star will be launched this June and it will be the sixth title in the Imagine series. At least, somebody is trying to bring some more girls to the gaming world while grabbing some extra bucks in the process. I don't mind, but I would really, really love if Ubisoft or anybody else would start developing games aimed at girls aged 18+. Well... nobody's perfect, after all.
