Batman has one in his cave, but you haven't heard it from me! Indeed, the JL Audio's Gotham subwoofer is one piece of audio gear that possesses some super-powers: it is, as the manufacturer says, the "mother of all subwoofers" and by all means it seems to be
true.

The Gotham is one high-end subwoofer destined for a home theater the size of a ballroom...or if you want your neighbor to enjoy the thorough bass coming from your house...

In case you're the kind of listener who has been forever complaining that there is never enough bass for a decent listening...here comes the bass: 3800W of maximal RMS power can be produced by this almost infernal LF machine. In a common large room, such a deployment of brute power would end up in certain defenestration, so be careful with that volume knob, will you?

Gotham sports everything there is to a greatly-engineered bass unit: sealed cabinet with non-parallel walls, instantly breaking standing waves and diminishing resonance and vibration to undetectable and non-harmful level and a massive driver array running with dual 13.5" woofers. These bass drivers sport a tremendous 4-inch peak to peak excursion aided by the massive and generous rubber surround, allowing for a most serious efficiency and precise response.

Carefully with that volume knob or you'll need new windows. And a new wall.

Class, power and price: JL Audio's Gotham. Yours for $11,000.

Capable of driving as much as 3800W RMS, the JL Audio Gotham subwoofer blasts from a quaking 19Hz to 200Hz with a continuously adjustable crossover between 30 and 130Hz, polarity and phase adjustment and Acoustic Room Optimization with included and defeatable calibration microphone. The Gotham sports a heap of processing capabilities, accessible from the front panel and via the backlit knob.

If you feel like a bass superhero, you could think of bringing a JL Audio Gotham in your den, but be careful: don't crank up the bass too loud or the arch-villains will definitely spot you. Since all superheroes are usually very rich people, paying $11,000 for the Gotham should not represent too much of a problem...
