A proud owner of an iPod, are we? Music, video, games... 3D ones at that. What, you didn't honestly think the iPod couldn't handle a 3D game, did you? Well it can. If your device is either an iPod nano (3rd generation), an iPod Classic, or an iPod that sports video capabilities (5th generation), then Namco Bandai's Pole Position: Remix is the game for you. Check iTunes Store now!

Pole Position: Remix became available via the iTunes Store just after Steve Jobs' keynote, but only with its name. Today, we can confirm that Namco's 3D racing game for the iPod is available for download ($4.99).

According to more than one source on the Internet, this is actually a first for the iPod - yes, the 3D thing. But not only that, Pole Position: Remix also features unlockable tracks and cars, along with some nicely assorted themes, too.

The game is of course an updated version of the classic forced 3-D perspective car racing game, in which the player's goal is to complete one lap within a given time limit only to qualify for the big race, involving multiple laps and, of course, fierce opponents. The same goes with this version.

But don't think this is your ordinary handheld/cell phone game! This here remixed port of Pole Position will have you steering, shifting, avoiding obstacles, oil slicks, puddles and, of course, other cars, all this on "5 unique 3D tracks," according to the official description on iTunes Store.

Game modes include Practice, Single Race, Grand Prix and Sudden Death, and you can listen to the game music, or your music, as you continue racing. You'll even be racing past billboards depicting your personal music collection. There's also some unlockable content to be had, including themes based on Namco's famous tittles.

So, remember to check iTunes Store when you get the chance to get a glimpse at the first 3D racing game for your iPod.
