Fluther - tap the collective

A new questions and answers technology was rolled out today, meant to offer answers for almost any question coming straight from other users of the service. Fluther is based on the 'answer from people' idea which is supposed to allow any registered member to get answers from other people in a matter of seconds. "Tap the collective. You ask a question. We get it to the right people. Everyone discusses the answers," are the main principles of the service. At this time, Fluther is quite an anonymous service because only a few people turned to its page to get answers for their questions. But, as time passes by, many might adopt it and abandon other similar technologies because there are a lot of products in the same category available out there.

Fluther advantages in the battle with other similar products? Simple interface, a small number of advertisements and a Digg-style comment system which allows you to rate the answers and comment on the questions together with other registered members.

"We think there's still nothing better than getting an answer from a person. So we made it easier. Just ask Fluther, and we'll direct your question to people who can help. Simple, isn't it?" the developers of the service wrote about Fluther. "Imagine having five Uncle Franks to answer your car questions, eight Aunt Marthas to ask about astronomy and six Grandma Gerties to advise you on your garden dilemmas. Tapping into our collective is like extending your entire network of knowledge. And Fluther lets you share your massive brainpower with others," they described the Fluter's system.

As far I can see, Fluther is similar with Yahoo Answers, a technology which is pretty popular among the users looking for such a product. Moreover, Yahoo Answers is supported by the famous Sunnyvale company which promotes the technology and manages to drive impressive amounts of traffic to its page.
