On March 27, 2015, French developer Rodolphe Bachelart, the creator of the Live Voyager series of GNU/Linux distributions based on Ubuntu/Xubuntu, was proud to announce the immediate availability for download of a new computer operating system, Live Voyager X 14.04.4 LTS.

Based on the Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS (Trusty Tahr) distro and powered by its Linux 3.16 kernel, the brand-new Live Voyager X 14.04.4 operating system is also an LTS (Long Term Support) release that will be supported with software updates, bugfixes, and security patches for five years. It is built around the recently released Xfce 4.12 desktop environment.

Among the new features included in Live Voyager X 14.04.4 LTS, we can mention tiling support for the right panel, Glances 2.3 application for diagnosis, Clamtk 5.15 anti-virus software, improved Slingscold app, cloud upload for images in the right-click context menu, as well as many other small tweaks that will make for a pleasant Xfce desktop experience.

Live Voyager X is a responsive and fast distribution, Ultrabooks compatible

Some of the Live Voyager in-house build scripts have been improved in this special edition in order to support the new Xfce 4.12 desktop environment, which is injected in the distribution from a third-party PPA repository. The kernel has been tweaked as well to support recent computers, such as Ultrabooks. Xfce 4.12 coupled with kernel 3.16 makes Live Voyager X a very responsive and fast computer operating system.

Live Voyager 14.04.4 LTS is available for download today from Softpedia, where it is distributed free of charge as a 64-bit Live DVD image. Below, we’ve prepared a nice screenshot tour of the new Live Voyager X distribution, and you can also enjoy the official presentation video created by its developer, Rodolphe Bachelart.
