Google to Open Glass Sales for One Day
Internal Google documents indicate this could happen later this month
Google is reportedly preparing to launch a cool new program for Google Glass that enables more American citizens to get their hands on the device.According to The Verge, some internal documents from the Internet giant suggest the company will open up sales of the Glass as soon as April 15 to help those that didn’t get into the Explorer program enjoy the device too.
This indicates that the company is trying to dramatically increase the number of Glass users, perhaps in an effort to make sure more people embrace the controversial device that many see as a threat to privacy.
Those who desire the device will still have to pay the $1,500 price tag, but the deal would include an additional free prescription frame or shades.
This will only be a restricted offer, which means that Google only wants to make this possible for a single day. Details are yet to be ironed out, but this seems to be the plan at this point.
The company is expected to launch Google Glass to the general population by the end of the year, but more details are probably going to be shared at this year’s Google I/O conference, where the Internet giant usually makes its big announcements.
