Google is getting bold this year with its Nexus lineup

There have been plenty of rumors indicating that this year Google will team up with Huawei to produce the next Nexus smartphone.

Actually, the specs of the purported fruit of their collaboration have already leaked online, showing us a smartphone with a 5.7-inch 2K OLED display and a Snapdragon 810 processor on the inside.

But at some point in the past, we also told you of a report saying that LG would be manufacturing the next-gen Nexus phone, not Huawei.

So which one will be? We can’t say for certain at this point, but the latest reports seem to indicate that, for the first time ever, Google is looking to introduce not one but two Nexus smartphones.

Google is looking to make a bolder move this year

Google might finally be looking to address the needs of users who weren't particularly taken with the huge display of the Nexus 6 and wanted something smaller and lighter.

So if Huawei’s Nexus doesn’t do the trick for some customers, the good news is that LG will be coming to the rescue with a 5.2-inch device.

According to a post on Google Plus by Android Police’s Artem Russakovskii, the existence of the Huawei Nexus has been confirmed. But apparently, so has the existence of the LG Nexus.

Google’s change in policy might do the company good, especially since not every user out there is pumped on huge phablets such as the Nexus 6. So offering a bit of diversity in the Nexus garden doesn't sound like a bad idea.

For the time being, there are no specs available about the LG Nexus phone, but we can only guess what those will end up being.

As in the case of the Huawei Nexus, the second variant might arrive with a 5.2-inch OLED display with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution.

LG might yet again employ the services of the Snapdragon 810 into its Nexus, although the tech giant chose to go with the Snapdragon 808 for its own flagship, the G4.

On the other hand, the same company utilized the pesky Snapdragon 810 for the G Flex 2, the second handset to ever arrive into the wild with that architecture on board.
