Internet giant Google is reportedly focused on providing more users with the benefits of having access to the web on their mobile devices, and will launch a series of low-cost Android smartphones for that.

Apparently, the company will also work on the building of wireless networks in various emerging markets, and the aforementioned smartphones will be released with support for them, a recent post on WSJ reads.

What’s yet uncertain is whether these smartphones will be built by Motorola, given that Google has purchased the mobile phone maker, or will be produced in collaboration with other vendors out there.

One thing that is certain, however, is the fact that such a move would help Android gain some more market share and strengthen the leading position on the smartphone OS market that it already holds.
