Google's "Course Builder" Is an Open Source Online Courses Platform

Just like it hinted initially, Google is using the technology behind "Power Searching with Google" to provide a free and flexible open courses platform to anyone that needs one. The set of tools could come in handy for any number of people.

There are plenty of education startups that are offering courses online, for free or for a fee.

And their number is growing so, in an effort to make sure that as many people and organizations can offer their insight online as easily as possible, Google is helping out with the software platform.

"We packaged up the technology we used to build Power Searching and are providing it as an open source project called Course Builder. We want to make this technology available so that others can experiment with online learning," Google wrote.

There are plans to expand on the technology and the code will be updated over time, but Google wanted to have something available now rather than wait for a more polished version.
