The electric guitar doodle in honor of Les Paul may be gone from the Google homepage, but if you're not done having fun with it you'll be glad to know that the doodle now has a permanent home in Google's Logos gallery.

"Good news for Les Paul fans: his doodle now has a permanent home, so you can keep playing," Google tweeted announcing the move.

A couple of days ago, Google once again upped the ante when it comes to homepage doodles with a playable guitar right there on the Google homepage.

It sparked a lot of interest and people were soon figuring out how to play popular tunes or even their own creations with the simple doodle. Since Google also enabled users to record their creations and share them with others, the doodle quickly went viral as fans tried to out-do themselves.

In fact, the interest was so big that Google decided to keep the doodle running for another full day, so that no one missed out on the fun. But if even this wasn't enough, you can head out to the Google Logos section and strum the strings to your heart's content.

And if you've never visited Google Logos, you're in for a treat, all of Google's past doodles, from every country, are listed in chronological order, so you can marvel at the company's ingenuity and maybe even learn a thing or you.

While there you can also check out the now famous Pac Man doodle which added a working Pac Man game to the Google homepage. That doodle proved to be one of the most interesting and popular doodles to date and it generated quite a bit of interest last year.

It reigned supreme as the best doodle ever for most people, the only challenger to date being the Les Paul guitar doodle. While some may still prefer the Pac Man doodle, if only because, well, it's Pac Man, the more creative types may rank the guitar doodle as number one from now on.
