Doodle's are becoming a permanent fixture for Google with a different one every few days in some periods. Today, Google is celebrating the birth of one of the most famous actors of all time, Charlie Chaplin. He would have been 122 years old today and Google is marking the occasion in a suitable manner, with a video in the style of his most famous character The Tramp.

This is the second time Google has used a video doodle, the first being for John Lennon.

Charlie Chaplin was born in 1889 and became famous for his roles during the Silent Movie era. His most early roles started during the First World War and his comedic style coupled with acting skills that favored mimicry made him a natural for silent films.

His films were an instant success and he became an international celebrity in a few years. He also started taking more control over the movies he starred in, writing and directing most of them.

In later years he would also compose the score of his movies and he even contributed to the choreography for one of his works.

It was during his early years in film that he created the Tramp character which he would then use in countless movies.

In fact, it is this character that the Google doodle video stars. It follows him through a series of scenes reminiscent of the situations the Tramp would have found himself in.

After the video ends, users are redirected to a Google Search for Charlie Chaplin. You can pause and rewind the video while it's playing on the Google homepage.

You can also click on the little YouTube icon in the lower right corner to view the full size and HD versions of the video on YouTube. The video doodle, uploaded to Google's official channel, is unlisted but available if you use the direct link.
