Mountain View-based Internet giant Google has decided to make available for download a new core application in the Android operating system, namely Email.

The company has been long working on making such applications available as third-party downloads through the official Google Play Store, and Email is the last to have received this treatment, it seems.

At the moment, the mobile application is available for download as version 6.3-1218562, offering support for devices running under Android 4.0 and newer platform iterations.

However, it appears that the software is actually available for only the most recent Nexus devices, as well as for select Google Play Edition phones.

In fact, Google even notes in the application’s description that HTC One M7 and Samsung Galaxy S4 GPe handsets are not compatible with this application release.

The Email app is already available pre-installed on Nexus and select Google Play edition devices out there, allowing users to easily stay on top of their messages wherever they go.

“The Email app lets you read and manage email from different accounts all in one place. Got Hotmail? Yahoo Mail? Outlook? No problem—the Email app brings it all together, with the same great experience you get in Gmail,” the application’s description reads.

The software comes with support for IMAP, POP3 and Exchange accounts, will automatically download attachments over Wi-Fi connections, and will also allow users to select which folders should be synced.
