Nexus handsets are not the only Google devices planned for production. A tablet PC is also expected to hit shelves soon under the “Google-Nexus” brand, and some more details on it have just started to emerge.

The device has been long rumored to arrive with a 7-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution.

Running under the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the tablet PC is now said to be planned for April production.

No other details on the device itself have emerged for the time being, but it should be launched with hardware specs above those included in today’s 7-inch tablets.

The device’s higher resolution screen is proof of that. The tablet PC might feature a slim design, along with other high-end capabilities.

With this tablet PC, Google is reportedly seeking to top devices such as the NOOK Tablet or Amazon’s Kindle Fire.

This means that, in addition to better hardware, the device would also have to sport a lower price tag. It will probably cost $200 or lower when made available for purchase.

What remains to be seen is what manufacturer will bring the new device to shelves. Based on the fact that Google is in the process of purchasing Motorola at the moment, we might expect this vendor to release it.

However, it would not come as a surprise if Google partnered with another vendor for this, especially since Motorola was the company to launch the very first Android 3.2 Honeycomb tablet PC in the world, none other than the Motorola XOOM.

While it is unlikely that Google will make an announcement regarding the said device at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, it should not be too long before the company actually unveils more on the matter, so keep an eye on this space for additional details.
