“Kick with Chrome” has three games you can play with the help of your smartphone

Google likes to have plenty of fun and that’s been obvious on countless occasions over the years, starting with the small doodles that sometimes replace the Google logo, the Easter eggs peppered across its many services and the Chrome experiments it keeps building.

This time around, the latest experiment is connected to this moment’s event: the World Cup. Unlike on other occasions, this time around, it includes three experimental games that connect between your smartphone and browser, although you can play them all on your own on the smartphone while on the go.

Infinite Dribble

There are three games in “Kick with Chrome.” The first one, “Infinite Dribble” is exactly what the name suggests – an endless effort to dribble the ball among enemy players and other obstacles and see how far you can go.

If you choose to connect your phone as a joystick and control the ball on your computer screen, you’ll notice that you can tilt the screen to direct it or to make the ball jump. Much to everyone’s disappointment, however, the controls are sketchy at best. You’ll find the ball going to places you didn’t mean for it to go and the game can even freeze if it loses connection with your phone for some reason.

Space Kick

The second game is called “Space Kick” and you literally have to kick the ball into space. You’re not going to do this in a one-shot, but you’ll have to go from stage to stage, kicking it higher and higher. You’ll be able to collect stars and power-ups and really should avoid the power-downs. The game works by drawing lines on the screen, indicating the place where you want to put the shoe. It’s basically similar to “Brick Breaker,” but you can move the shoe to any place you want.

We don’t recommend playing this by connecting the PC and smartphone at all because it’s a disappointment. Every time we tried, it didn’t connect and couldn’t play the game at all.

Shootout

The last game is “Shootout,” which can be played in the same manner. This time, you’re trying to score a goal into the net and you’ll have to drag your finger on the screen to direct the ball. One advice: aim for the high corners, but be mindful of how much you keep the finger on the screen since you can end up sending a curveball missing the net by a lot.

All in all, the games are nice, but we'd recommend playing them on the phone rather than bothering with connecting the mobile device to the desktop Chrome since that feature didn't really work well.

So, what scores did you get?
