Google ads, the Chrome ones in particular, are rarely about Chrome. Much like Chrome itself, it’s not about the browser or even what it can do, but about what can be done on the web through it. Google's been highlighting plenty of stories of people doing wonderful things that wouldn't have been possible without the web.
The latest Chrome ad is just that, the story of one man Dallas Clayton, who wrote a book, "An Awesome Book!" for his son and then wanted to have it published. Of course, every publisher he went to turned it down so instead he turned to the web.
He made the book available for free online, printed a few copies for himself and pretty soon people started talking about it and buying it too.
So he started going to where the people were, doing public readings, meeting with his fans. Completely unsurprising, his book became a huge success.
