You may remember that Google CEO Larry Page decided to skip Google I/O, the company's developer love fest, this year, complaining that he had lost his voice. While some conspiracy theorists found alternative reasons, it's now clear that the issue was quite serious.
He has now come back for his first public talk since then and his voice is still obviously raspy. He talked at Google's own Zeitgeist conference, hosted for its business partners.
The interview was pretty softball, it was at its own conference after all, but Page touched on several issues concerning the company.
Considering that Page didn't make that many public appearances even before he fell ill, anything he says can be considered quite valuable.
He commented on the privacy policy issues and what he saw as efforts to regulate the web.
He believes that, because the web is so young and so fast changing, trying to say what should and shouldn't be done so early could be detrimental, referring to both the privacy policy and the larger moves by governments and government agencies to gain more power over the internet.
