Google+ users can create polls and share them with followers

Google has introduced polls into its Google+ platform, much to the enjoyment of all users. The feature has long since been requested by people and it looks like Google has finally found it fitting to deliver.

“Michael Jordan or LeBron James? Best pizza in New York City? The definitive James Bond? These are just some of the questions that can only be answered by asking those around us. Starting today, you can use polls on Google+ to settle the burning issues of our generation… or at least find out what your friends are thinking,” reads the company’s announcement.

Google points out that the new polls will make it easier to get opinions from friends and followers on the things you’re curious about.

The polls are now just another option when making a new post, alongside “text,” “photos,” “link,” “video,” and “event.”

These new polls have some limits, however, namely a maximum of five choices. You can, however, use photos to make them beautiful and engaging. The entire process is extremely simple and the results are visually appealing.

It’s not just photographs that you can add, but also GIFs, which should make for an even more entertaining process for those you want to vote on your poll.

Voting made easy

The voting process is also extremely easy to keep track of and it only requires that you click on the line containing the option you want to vote for. Once more votes are racked in, the percentages are automatically calculated and the colored line will reflect it accordingly.

You can decide whom to share the poll with, just like you would with any other post – the public, your friends, groups, followers and so on. You can even handpick the people you want to share it with by searching them out by name.

“Of course, no poll is as interesting as the one you want answered, so give it a try for yourself -- just look for the new poll icon when creating a post. Polls will become available over the next few days on Android and the web, and are coming soon to iOS,” Google states.

It’s interesting that while Google is only now introducing the feature, Facebook has already had it and eliminated it. The company found it redundant because Pages could create the same experience by asking questions and getting answers in comments.

Google has obviously done its math, however, and found that on its own social platform polls were a good idea.
