Google has added a new search operator, "movie:", that gives you results of movie titles with reviews of those movies. The results page is very informative.

What's cool is that you can search for more than movie titles. You can search for an actor and get movies he appeared in, or movie genres, or even quotes.

Using the sorting method, you can then get the best reviewed horror film, or Jim Carrey's most recent film. A feature that needs to be added: sorting in the other direction, so you can get the oldest film, as opposed to the newest one, a feature not so many find useful.

The simplest way to get to this engine is to type movie: in your Google Search box, or visit www.google.com/reviews?q=movie.

This service has a great timing to be unveiled, only a few days before the entire planet finding out who the Academy decided to award the Oscars to this year. The Google Movie Search is the operator that enables you to find movie-related information faster and more easily, whether you're looking for titles or actors, director or genre, famous lines or obscure plot details.

What's even cooler about this service is that it can be accessed via personal computers but also via mobile phones and other wireless devices that use short-message service.

The new feature also provides information such as theater locations and reviews, and enables users to search for movies by title, plot or genre.

Competitor Yahoo Inc., which is making a big move into entertainment, offers such data as movie showtimes, theater locations, reviews and ticketing purchasing through its Yahoo Movies section.
