The Mountain View Company continues to dominate the US search market, reveals Internet market researcher Nielsen//NetRatings. With an year-to-year growth of 30% and 3,003,205,000 searches
in August, Google is the top US search provider. This is basically a traditional ranking, as Yahoo and MSN/Windows Live Search have rounded up the second an third positions. A total of 1,434,169,000 searches were carried out via Yahoo. This represents a 24% share of the US search market and reflects a YOY growth of 23%.

MSN/Windows Live Search is third with 10% of the market, a YOY of just 3%, while accounting for 595,584,000 searches. AOL is on a continuous descendant trend with a 18.2% YOY, a 5.5% market share and 328,559,000 searches. Ask.com Search, with 136,919,000 searches closes the top five, owning 2.3% of the US search market.

The Nielsen//NetRatings statistics mirror the global dominance of the respective search engine, with the exception of China. Chinese users seem to prefer Baidu.com, a local search engine, and Yahoo in the detriment of Google, who is losing ground on what will become the world's largest Internet market.
