Shortly after releasing the Google Now Launcher for several KitKat devices, the search giant has announced that its Google+ application for Android devices has received a massive update that brings important photo-related features.

The most important changes included in the new version of Google+ for Android have been detailed by Vic Gundotra who confirmed that the new update is all about photos.

First of all, the update brings a new feature that will allow users to start editing their photos on their Android devices, and then continue on another, or simply start over again. The new feature is called “non-destructive photo editing” and comes in handy while on the go.

There’s more to it, as Gundotra has also confirmed that Google+ users will be able to back up photos from their desktop at full resolution and then choose to edit any of them on their phones.

If the work isn’t done in time, they can continue editing their photos on a completely other device, like a tablet for example. The good news is that if you make any mistakes, you will be able to revert your photos to the original at any time during editing. The latter is referred to as “non-destructive editing in the cloud.”

But that’s not the only new feature included in the new update. Google+ 4.3 also comes with brand new filters and various creative tools.

According to Gundotra, when editing photos, Google+ users will be able to take advantage of a powerful set of tools such as crop and rotate. In addition, Google has also added 1-touch filters and Snapseed-themed enhancements such as Drama, Retrolux, and HDR Scape.

Next in line is a small but useful tweak that will allow Google+ users to see all their photos in a single view. The new “All” view option displays the entire photo library regardless of where it is stored.

This means that you will be able to see all your pictures from the phone, tablet, PC or cloud in a single view. However, according to Google, for those users with really large libraries (10s of thousands of photos), the application will not display all the pictures initially.

The good news is that Gundotra has confirmed that Google will be supporting larger libraries over the next few weeks, so depending on how many photos you have in your library, you might be able to benefit from this tweak earlier.

Last but not least, with Google+ 4.3, users will be able to browse their photos by date. Aside from the standard search feature, users can now locate a certain photo by swiping through their photos in the “All” view. Simply drag the scroll bar on the right, up or down to go forward or backward in time.

Assuming you have a compatible device, you can now download Google+ for Android 4.3 for free via Softpedia. We’re also providing the APK file if you wish to sideload it on your device.
