In September, Google amounted for a total of 50% of all the searches in the United States. The figures released by Nielsen//NetRatings indicate a 24% year to year growth for the Mountain View
Company. In the United States alone, 2,826,016,000 searched were introduced in Google. Yahoo is a few million short of Google's 2,82 billion searches with only 1,320,962,000 queries in September. This guarantees Yahoo a market share of 23.4% and a YOY of 12%.
The introduction of Windows Live Search did little to nudge Microsoft from its descendant trajectory on the search market. Nielsen//NetRatings credits MSN/Windows Live Search with 519,259,000 searches, 9.2% of the market and a negative YOY growth of -12%.
AOL is also continuing to lose ground. Now at 6.3% for 358,472,000 searches, AOL's YOY growth is also a negative -8.7%. In the fist five search engines, Ask.com Search joins Google and Yahoo on an ascendant trend with a year to year growth of 19%, but a market share of just 2.7% or 152,147,000 searches.
