It appears that Google's Gmail application for Android devices is currently plagued by a weird bug that causes the screen to flicker while the application is opened.

The issue was reported only a few days ago and seems to affect only Gingerbread users, though this has yet to be confirmed by Google.

It is also worth mentioning that not all devices running Android 2.3 seems to suffer from this bug, but reports confirmed that the following devices seems to be affected: Samsung Galaxy S II, Samsung Galaxy Note, DROID RAZR MAXX, and Motorola XOOM.

Google stated that it's aware of this issue and actively working to deliver a fix within the next few days. Until then, those affected can check out some workarounds tips offered by the folks at Lifehacker.
