Google signed a deal with Adobe Systems Incorporated that will offer a special plug-in that will allow the users to work with the drawings hosted on the 3D Warehouse site. As you might know, 3D Warehouse is a newly-introduced website that hosts all the drawings made by the users and meant to be implemented into Google Earth. Basically, most of the designs are created with Google SketchUp, an application that helps users design 3D buildings, cities and streets with ease.

The plug-in will work quite easily as it will automatically connect to the 3D Warehouse website, download the selected drawings and open them in Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended for editing. This way, the clients are able to use the power of the famous photo manipulation tool for 3D drawings that will be then included in Google Earth, the downloadable application that provides maps and other satellite imagery.

"We were happy to collaborate with Adobe on the Photoshop Extended plug-in for the Google 3D Warehouse. With this plug-in, users of Photoshop CS3 Extended can participate in the 3D Warehouse community, giving them the ability to search, store and share thousands of 3D models and content," said Mark Limber, product manager at Google. "The Google 3D Warehouse repository, combined with Photoshop CS3 Extended, allows creatives, architects, manufacturers and others to find exactly what they need to bring their virtual worlds and conceptual designs to life."

At this time, the Photoshop CS3 Extended plug-in is available only for the Mac platforms but the parent company Adobe sustains that the Windows version will be released on June 1, 2007. If you want to download the plug-in, you can take it for free from Adobe Labs available on this link. The Macintosh version has approximately 9 MB and comes as a dmg package.
