JotSpot might be relaunched soon

Google acquired JotSpot in October 2006 and everybody was talking about some new technologies prepared by the search giant that might attack the enterprise social industry. Until now, the Mountain View company didn't reveal any sign that it might be interested in this side of the market but, as Michael Arrington from TechCrunch reports, the wiki service might be relaunched soon. Moreover, Tony Ruscoe from Google Blogoscoped reports that a Google Wiki logo is shown every time a Google Apps consumer tries to login into the service. It seems like Google would be also interested in introducing JotSpot into the Apps suite since the logo appears when the consumers try to login into it.

"Furthermore, anyone with a domain hosted with Google Apps who isn't using custom logos will see a "Google Wiki" logo when trying to login to the service. (The login page currently returns a "Service not available" message which is normal for services that haven't yet been activated in your Google Apps account.)" Tony Ruscoe wrote on the Google Blogoscoped page.

"A link to "beta.pages.google.com" is also shown. This address doesn't currently resolve but it could suggest that Jotspot may have been moved to use the same underlying technology as Google Page Creator."

What's most interesting is that Google might launch the service at the upcoming Office 2.0 Conference that takes place in San Francisco. Last year, the Mountain View company introduced Docs & Spreadsheets, its basic Office solution that represented the first step for the battle with Microsoft. This year, the Internet community is expecting a new release: the presentation tool that would complete Google's office suite. In case you forgot, Google announced in March this year that it prepares a web-based presentation tool that would represent a new alternative for the somehow old-fashioned Microsoft PowerPoint.
