Google Web Toolkit (GWT) is a development application especially created for the Java platform that allows you to write AJAX programs quick and easy. The search giant tries to improve its current technologies with users' help by releasing multiple solutions meant to help them design new ideas and solutions. That's why the company created Google Code, a special service that contains several utilities for developers, as well as documentation and project examples to help everybody work with ease.

The developing process of any technology or application is a difficult activity so the company was forced to provide a detailed FAQ and multiple forums with a lot of topics. Because this may not be enough, Google also owns a special blog for the Google Code solution that helps users stay informed with the latest news coming directly from the company's labs. The Developer Guide is an interesting manual for both beginner and advanced users that presents all the tools provided by the search giant as a part of the Google Code project.

Google Web Toolkit is just another tool included in the service and it allows you to develop applications in Java language simple and quickly. It is an open source downloadable software solution and it is developed under the Apache 2.0 open source license. Because many users already downloaded this tool, the company worked hardly to release an updated version of Google Web Toolkit. The new version was presented yesterday, so the company published a blog message to announce new features and more details.

"Now that the holidays are behind us, we've packed up the second release candidate for version 1.3. We expect that this binary will actually turn into the final 1.3 release, but we want to give it some time in the wild before we label it as such. If you're curious to know what's being addressed in 1.3, please look at [milestone:1_3_Final]. As to what's next, for 1.4, we plan to focus on improving performance and cleaning up bugs (especially the critical ones), though we might throw in a few new widgets. This will lay a rock-solid foundation for a feature-packed 1.5," Dan Peterson, Product Manager, said on the official blog.

Google Web Toolkit was also tested by Softpedia and it is available as a free download HERE.
