A new way to communicate

One of the services that Google made available for a limited number of people not too long ago was Google Voice, which has just become available for everyone in the United States. This web-based platform for the management of communications was released as an early preview about a year ago, and has received a great deal of improvements ever since. Starting with June 22, Google Voice has been opened to the public, accessible to users in the US without the need of an invitation.

Among the features available for users of Google Voice, we can count one number to ring all of one's phones, the possibility to enjoy voicemail as if it were email, free calls in the US and Canada, low-cost international calls, and others more. Those who did not try Google Voice and are not familiar with the service's features should have a look at the video embedded bellow to learn a little more on it. Moreover, a list of all the features the service comes with is available here.

“Over the past year, we’ve introduced a mobile web app, an integrated voicemail player in Gmail, the ability to use Google Voice with your existing number and more. Over a million of you are now actively using Google Voice, and many of the features released over the past year (like SMS to email and our Chrome extension) came as a result of your suggestions, so thanks!,” a recent post on the Google Mobile Blog states.

While the novelties included in Google Voice since its release in early preview last year might seem impressive, there are still a lot of things the solution won't come with. Of course, all is related to the combination of regular phone services with web technology. The infographic attached to this article is meant to provide an overview of the history of human communications, along with a glimpse at the manner in which Google Voice can help people communicate in more manners than before.
