Today, wireless carrier Sprint announced the upcoming availability of Nexus S 4G on its airwaves and, along with it, of Google Voice integration for all Sprint CDMA phones, aimed at offering a brand new experience to its customers.

Through the new deal, Sprint users interested in benefiting from Google Voice can set their existing Sprint wireless phone number as the Google Voice number.

“Sprint customers will be able to take advantage of all the features and benefits of Google Voice without the hassle and fees associated with porting their number. Sprint is the first and only carrier to offer this capability, which will be available soon on all Sprint CDMA phones,” the wireless carrier announced.

Nexus S 4G, the phone launched via a collaboration between Sprint, Google and Samsung, will come pre-loaded with the Google Voice Android app.

The Google Voice integration would also offer users the possibility to have their Sprint mobile number as the Google Voice number that would ring multiple other phones simultaneously (a call on this number can be answered on a home or office phone, or on a computer, via Gmail).

At the same time, users can choose to have their Sprint number replaced with the Google Voice number when placing calls or sending texts from the Sprint handset in their hands.

“As part of our partnership with Google, our customers will appreciate having the easiest set-up experience of any wireless carrier for Google Voice across all of our CDMA phones, using their existing Sprint phone number,” said Kevin McGinnis, vice president-Product and Technology Development, Sprint.

“It’s now easier than ever to truly live a mobile lifestyle with the ability to manage multiple devices through intelligent call routing and online controls using just one phone number – your existing Sprint number.”

With this announcement, Sprint becomes the first wireless carrier to offer users the possibility to assign an existing mobile phone number as their Google Voice number without having to get through the number portability hassle.

The new deal would offer Sprint users the possibility to move a phone number to Google Voice within minutes.

“With this integration, we have made Google Voice simple to use with a Sprint phone,” said Dave Girouard, president at Google.

Sprint subscribers now have access to all the benefits of Google Voice behind their existing mobile number without the need for porting or, if they already have a Google Voice number, they can display that number from their Sprint phone without the need for a separate application.”

The new feature would become available for Sprint's users in the United States in the near future. Those who would like to be informed on its availability can head over to the carrier's website here to register their interest.
