Forwards text messages to email

Google Voice is a service that enables its subscribers to enjoy the use of one number for all their phones, while also delivering a series of other features that seem to be constantly improving and growing in number. The latest functionality available for the service's users is the fact that inbound text messages are now forwarded into email form.

In addition to that, Google Voice also allows users to reply to the message from the email. Previously, the only SMS-related option that was available for the service's subscribers was that they could read the messages online, while also being able to respond to them this way, in addition to having this feature on their handsets.

The fact that Google Voice has added the new feature to its users is regarded as a great thing by many. As Tech Crunch notes, users had the possibility to find around the Internet some third-party services that provided the functionality, “but they require users to give these services your Google Voice credentials, which is never a good idea. It’s great that Google launched this feature directly.”

Those of you who have encountered Google Voice before should already know that the service offers a similar functionality when it comes to voicemail. These kind of messages were auto-transcribed and emailed to them, and a wide range of other services were also available to the service's users, including call blocking and screening, voicemail transcripts, call conferencing, international calls, and more.

Android and BlackBerry mobile phone users can already enjoy Google Voice applications on their devices, while others can access the service on the Google Voice Mobile site. The service is available for most of the mobile phones on the market, and even iPhone users can access it online, even if Apple rejected the official Google Voice application from its App Store.
