Even if this sounds more like an argument between five-year-olds, it is actually the result of a survey published recently by the investment banking and research firm S.G. Cowen & Co. LLC. After having individual interviews with over 1,000 Internet users, the company found that those who prefer Google are usually more experienced in finding their way online as they have
been used to surfing the web for at least a few years.
It appears that the longer people spend time online, the more they are convinced of the superiority of
Google services and become loyal users of the giant search engine. Another interesting aspect of this survey is that those people who search online only with Google tools have household incomes $60,000 higher than people who use
competing search engines, such as the solutions provided by Microsoft, Yahoo and America Online.
Not very surprisingly, Google is the one preferred by the people questioned by S.G. Cowen & Co. LLC, with 52 percent of respondents choosing it as their primary engine for general Web searches. Yahoo came in second with 22 percent, while Microsoft's MSN and AOL tied for third place with 9 percent.
