Google SketchUp for Dummies

Google SketchUp is a downloadable application, compatible with Google Earth that allows users to design 3D drawings to be included in the mapping tool. But SketchUp is even more than that because some of its creations can be used with a different goal than the one of improving Google Earth. Some of the users might be a little bit scared by SketchUp since its purpose is to create 3D drawings with attractive characteristics. That's why Aidan Chopra decided to write Google SketchUp for Dummies, an interesting book that shows a lot of tutorials about the 3D modeling tool.

The book has no less than 432 pages with approximately 260 illustrations for both versions of Google SketchUp for Windows and for Mac. Amazon sells the book for $16.49 but there is no price for the US stores.

"The book I wrote is called Google SketchUp For Dummies, and it's now available at bookstores all over the U.S., Canada and the UK (Amazon has it, too). It took me about five months to write, and it covers both the free and Pro versions of Google SketchUp 6 - Windows and Mac," Aidan Chopra said today.

"At 432 pages, with something like 260 illustrations and a 16-page color insert, it's about 422 pages longer than anything else I've written (excluding my Master's thesis, which doesn't count because no one's actually ever read it). All the same, I like to write, and I like SketchUp, so the book seemed like a worthwhile undertaking. I'm very happy with how it turned out."

Since Google SketchUp reached the 6 version, the Mountain View company added interoperability with Google Earth, the downloadable mapping solution that allows users to view imagery from the entire world straight from your desktop. The search giant aimed to improve the Google Earth content by enabling users to build their own 3D versions of cities, buildings and streets in SketchUp and implement them into the mapping tool.
