Google Translate for Android, the application that allows users to translate text between 65 languages has been updated with support for even more languages.

According to Google, the application now supports text recognition from Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Keep in mind that, for the time being, this feature is only available for horizontal text.

Furthermore, this update adds handwriting recognition in more languages: Afrikaans, Croatian, Czech, Icelandic, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Slovak, Slovenian, Ukrainian and Welsh.

Remember that the update has made a few more changes that are not mentioned by Google, but it appears that some users have trouble changing the language or displaying the application in full screen while using handwriting recognition.

Google Translate 2.5.3 is now available as a free download via Google Play store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.1 and up. Check it out here.
