Google might sign a deal with several Belgian newspapers to publish latest news and headlines on the News service, although the company recorded several problems in the past.
The Belgian group Copiepresse agreed to have the news indexed on Google's product, but without the cache option that allows users to access older items. The publications sustained they are looking to disable this function because they intend to sell the older stories to their clients, so a cached version provided by the Mountain View company can damage their business.

"The Belgian French and German-language daily press publishers and Google Inc. intend to use a quiet period in the court dispute to continue their efforts to identify tangible ways to collaborate in the long term," the publications sustained according to the International Herald Tribune.

As you might know, the old problems between the search giant and the Belgian publications started from the articles published by Google on the news service. At that time, the newspapers sustained the Mountain View firm published videos without authorization and filed a complaint against it. After the case was presented to the court, a Belgian judge ordered Google to remove all headlines provided by the newspapers and avoid future indexing of their websites.

This time, it looks like the two enemies are now aiming to become partners and, who knows, maybe the search giant will help the publications sell their stories. However, Google News is often criticized for its procedure because it receives news from more than 4500 sources and publishes the headlines on its official website. Although it might look like a copyright infringement case, it isn't because the search giant links the headlines to the original author of the story.
