YouTube videos embedded inside a Flash Widget

Although the company sustained it would never advertise its products on other websites than Google, I recently discovered multiple ads created by the Gmail team and posted on the YouTube video service, also owned by Google. The adverts were made by the company's employees and were based on some puppet action but they are really funny and amazing. Today, another interesting type of Google advert was discovered by several bloggers but it seems like the ad is separated from the AdSense policy.

Basically, the advert is an YouTube Video embedded into a Flash Widget commercial showing the main advantages of using Gmail. As Digital Inspiration reported, the advert is 250x200 pixels while the Adsense Ad size is 300x250 pixels and looks like an AdSense gadget that provides quick access to four videos with Gmail posted on YouTube.

"The Adsense Flash widget is actually served by Lab Pixies, a company that also creates gadgets or widgets for personalized pages like PageFlakes, Google Personalized Homepage and Microsoft Live.com. Though the images in the ad are served by LabPixies, they are redirected via gmodules.com/ - a Google owned site. It is unclear whether these are CPM or CPC ads since they mix Flash video with text, something that we haven't seen before. The performance of these Youtube Adsense Ads can be easily guessed from the links feature of Youtube," Digital Inspiration reported.

This gadget advert represents one more step taken by the search giant in its attempt to promote this tiny tool and add interoperability with other Google services. It would be very interesting to see if Google decides to continue this test and advertise other solutions designed by its employees using the gadget support. If you're a Personalized Homepage user, you are also able to include and test this latest advert developed by Google by adding the gadget directly on your page.
