New feature meant to help users

Google tries to improve its search engine periodically to increase its functionality and add more features and functions that can be very useful for their users. This is the reason why they initiated multiple tests and then added blog search, patent search and many other features in Google Search.

This time, the search giant started another search to improve the efficiency of Google Search, by adding a "Related Searches" option placed after the search results. Although the company didn't make any official announcements, multiple users reported they saw this function for different keywords.

"I reported at Search Engine Roundtable that Google is now showing related searches at the bottom of the search results page. An example query working now is for michael jordan, scroll down to the bottom of the page and you might see the "Searches related to: michael jordan" area. If not, I have a screen shot in the link above. I believe this is new. If it is not, then Google may be showing them more often since yesterday," said Barry Schwartz on Search Engine Land blog.

Barry also provided a screenshot that shows the way this new function looks that is placed at the start of this article.

Matt Cutts, a Google engineer, posted a quite sketchy response for Barry's article, saying: "I commented over on your post, Barry, but yup: this is new. As always, we experiment with ways to help users, including query refinement. Any new feature has a high bar to meet before we turn it on 100%; we don't want features that crowd the page but don't really help users."

So, it's obvious we should expect for a new feature soon because it seems like this new feature is very handy for many users, allowing them to search for alternates without having to type a keyword.
